Maintaining a Positive Mindset

It’s been a bit since I have submitted a piece for publishing.  Previously, I wanted what I submitted to be a great, awesome piece that touches the heart of millions.  But alas, that sets the bar quite high and nearly impossible to obtain.  Today I am writing to share.  It may be an amazing piece, it may just be ok, but regardless I am going to write and see what comes, that is what comes from my heart.

I try and live my life in a positive way.  Simply stated.  My goal is maintaining a positive mindset

I’m the person who sits at a red light and stares at the clock but tells myself that I will get to wear I need to be at the time I need to be there, all the while arriving safely.

If I am in an extensive line at the grocery store, I tell myself that I am being held up for a reason and therefore I shall not fret.  Perhaps I am being protected from harm or danger.

When a rough day rolls into my world, I adjust my mindset and focus on the fact that this day is just temporary, and that tomorrow will be a new day.

As it does ever so often, when I get overwhelmed by my diagnosis and the medication that I take to provide balance, I remind myself that the diagnosis is just a guide that aids the doctors and their treatment and it does not define me, and that the medication, regardless of the side effects, has helped me to regain control of my life, living now with far less torture than I have in the past.

There are days when I get discouraged by my inability to lose weight, and I remind myself that I have gained a tremendous amount of mental and physical stability and therefore I may weigh a few more pounds than I’d prefer, but I am winning because of all that I have gained overall.

On the days that I struggle to accomplish more than just getting to work and sitting and staring at my monitor, I applaud myself for my effort and do not allow judgement or criticism.

But, on the days when I can accomplish leaps and bounds compared to previous days, I applaud myself and soak in the rays of success and give myself credit for how far I have come and all my accomplishments.

And on the days that I just don’t have it in me, I reach out to my family and my friends and I ask for help.  It is then that I am unable to speak myself into a place of positivity and I need to rely on my support network to help lift me up out of my own darkness, and they always, always, pull through for me.

My life is made better daily as I strive to focus on the light of the world.  I feel empowered by the ability to trust in the good of all things.  Although there is darkness and despair, I do all I can to power through it, while trying to make the best of what I have been given.

May your day be blessed, and may it provide you with exactly what you need from it today and tomorrow and everyday that follows.

  2. I really try to stay positive, but it is a struggle when you have a mood disorder and PTSD swinging you all over the place lol. Retraining your brain takes time though, or so I’ve been told over and over.

  3. This is enlightening. There are a couple of things – recognizing my accomplishments, leaning on my support group, that I often fail at doing. I’m inspired to work on it.

  4. It is so important to have that support network, I know this first hand. That particular small circle of people you can trust enough to talk to when you feel worried about what others will think during your “weakness”.

    1. Yes, yes, indeed! I totally agree with you. I am so very blessed with the people that I have within my circle. They have helped me out on numerous occasions when I needed the extra support.

  5. Hey, It was a good read! And I love your goal by the way because it’s mine too. Maintaining a positive mindset should be everyone’s goal. Also, as you spoke about rough days, yeah, when they come we should tell our mind that it’s just temporary. Because there will be a tomorrow, a new day, and every new day brings new joy and strength with it! I love your blog. Have a great day.
And hey I would like to tell you that I love to live in positivity, and I have also written a similar article you will find it here: https://helpingisforever.com/how-to-have-a-positive-thinking/

  6. Hello Bella. I was browsing through posts here on WordPress when I came across this post from you. This post is refreshing. I like your perspective on focusing on the good things and trusting that good would come out of everything. This is a good mindset to have. I appreciate you for it, we need more people like you in the world.

However, if I may ask, do you believe in God? God is our creator and an ever present help in times of need. Whatever it is that you are going through, you do not have to go through it alone. God is willing to help you. When you have problems or rough days, family and friends are good people to talk to, but God is the best person to talk to. God has the power to work miracles and transform situations and lives. When we have God in our lives and walk faithfully with him, we can trust that all things would turn out in our best interests. Although some things might seem worrisome, those situations would turn out in our best interest in the end.

God provides reassurance in several parts of the bible about his willingness to strengthen and help his followers.
For example: Isaiah 41:10 says “Don’t be afraid, for I am with you.
Don’t be discouraged, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you and help you.
I will hold you up with my victorious right hand.

2 Corinthians 9:8 says “And God is able to bless you abundantly,
so that in all things at all times, having all that
you need, you will abound in every good work.

We can benefit all the things outlined above and more when we have a faithful relationship with God. Our God is beautiful, merciful, and open to every person who seeks him in truth. I suggest that you give God a try, I am certain that he can make your days even brighter.

If you wish to start a relationship with God (if you do not already have one), here are the steps that I usually recommend:

    1) find a quiet space free from distractions, a place where you can pray.

    2) imagine that Jesus is in front of you, talk to him the way you will with a close friend. Tell him that you are ready to accept him, invite him to come into your life and become your lord and personal savior. Ask for forgiveness of past sins. Tell Jesus that you want to die to your old self and be reborn as a new creation in him. Pray that you inherit eternal life and the kingdom of God. Beware of sudden distractions when you pray, this is a trick the devil uses to stop us from having focused prayers. You might also get the feeling that God is not there or that you are simply wasting your time, this is another trick that the devil uses to discourage us from prayers.

    3) If you have any specific prayers, or something specific that you need, you can ask it in Jesus name, and God would attend to the prayers. God usually has three answers to prayers: Yes, Yes but wait, and No. God has a reason for every answer, and his answers are usually what is best for you. When you pray, you need to have faith that you will receive. God does not like it when we pray but doubt his ability to provide what we want for us. Lastly, prayers and faith without works wont bring results. E.g. If all a person does is prays and has faith that they would get a job, without actually applying to jobs, they WOULD NOT get a job. God does not work that way, God loves hard-working people, and God rewards hard-work. If all Christians had to do is pray, have faith, and stay home all day awaiting a blessing, Christians would be the laziest people on earth. LOL. Your part is to pray that God should fast-track your success, so that you recieve your blessings quicker than people who are relying on their own strength. Your blessings might also come in a bigger way. Remember to thank God when you get the answers to your prayers.

    4) Read the bible and obey it. You can find free bibles online. You can also find free bible apps on google play. Keep praying all the time and maintain a connection with God.

    5) Trials and tribulations may come your way, sometimes these are designed to test your faith, and sometimes they are simply tricks from the devil to get you to denounce the religion. At times like this, you pray to God, you fast, and you maintain consistency in the faith, this way, God would lift you above all trials and afflictions.

    6) You can join a community of bible believing Christians. Having friends who are believers would keep you on track, and the conversations about the religion would be beneficial to your faith.

    7) Get a water baptism, and pray to God so that you can receive a baptism in the holy spirit.

    8) Begin to educate yourself on the things of the lord. Read books from ministers who have practised deliverance, healing, seeing in the spirit, and other gifts. Read about how they got these anoiting and learn more about the workings of the spiritual realm through Christian books.

(The things written in this list are not to be followed in any particular order. The most important thing is to begin by asking for a forgiveness of sins, confess Jesus as your personal lord and saviour, and pray for eternal life. You can mix up the order of the rest. However, I strongly suggest you do them all simultaneously).

If you have any questions, please do let me know. God bless you sister, have a beautiful day ahead 🙂 xoxo
