Memory of Shane – Novel (Work in Progress)

Memory of Shane is told in a nonlinear structure as the novel goes from the present to the past throughout. In the present Adriana gets a call that her ex-boyfriend Shane (who she hasn’t seen in five years) has tried to commit suicide and is in the hospital, she rushes to California to be at his side.

In the past nineteen-year-old Adriana meets Shane and falls in love in her uncle’s coffee shop, and they have a summer romance. Adriana returns to school and Shane tries to commit suicide for the first time. Adriana decides to move back home to Seattle to live with Shane who is diagnosed with Bipolar One. Their life is fine until Shane makes the life-altering decision to stop his medications and never see his doctors again. In the present Adriana is confronted by Shane’s mother.

The story culminates in the past, as Shane again tries to commit suicide again driving Adriana away. She leaves Shane that day and moves to New York. In the present Shane dies from a medication overdose but leaves behind his story for Adriana to publish. Five years later Adriana is now a famous writer after telling her story about Shane and is now ready to publish Shane’s memoir “Memory of Shane.”

Please Help me Publish my Memoir

I am almost done editing my memoir “The Bipolar Writer,” and I have decided to go down the self-publishing route. If you can donate anything towards my goal, it would mean the world to me. I am still working towards enough to pay an artist for a good cover. Those that donate will get a special mention in my memoir on a page dedicated to those that made my memoir possible. Thank you in advance!
